James C.Brett Flutterby Chunky has to be one of my favourite yarns to work with when it comes to amigurumi. It is easy and quick to work with. For this teddy I used this yarn in brown and blue but this teddy can but used using other types of yarn just make sure you are using the yarns recommended hook.
MATERIALS
- Plush Chunky Yarn (I used James C. Brett Flutterby Chunky) in brown and blue or two colours of choice
- A 5mm hook
- Needle
- Scissors
- Stuffing
- Plastic eyes (suitable for toys)
- Plastic nose (suitable for toys)
ABBREVIATIONS
- sc – single crochet
- inc – increase
- dec – decrease
- st. – stitch
- BLO – back loops only
- Ch. – chain
HEAD (BEAR COLOUR)
Round 1 – ch.2 and 6sc in first ch. (6)
Round 2 – ‘inc’ x6 (12)
Round 3 – ‘1sc, inc’ x6 (18)
Round 4 – ‘2sc, inc’ x6 (24)
Round 5 – sc in each st. (24)
Round 6 – ‘3sc, inc’ x6 (30)
Round 7 – sc in each st. (30)
Round 8 – ‘4sc, inc’ x6 (36)
Round 9-13 – sc in each st. (36)
Round 14 – ‘4sc, dec’ x6 (30)
Round 15 – ‘3sc, dec’ x6 (24)
Round 16 – ‘2sc, dec’ x6 (18)
Round 17 – ‘4sc, dec’ x3 (15)
Stuff, fasten off and leave tail for sewing. Insert eyes between round 8-9 and nose between 11 and 12.

Round 3 – ‘1sc, inc’ x6 (18)
Round 4 – ‘2sc, inc’ x6 (24)
Round 5 – ‘3sc, inc’ x6 (30)
Round 6-10 – sc in each st. (30)
Round 11 – ‘3sc, dec’ x6 (24)
Round 12-13 – sc in each st. (24)
Round 14 – ‘2sc, dec’ x6 (18)
Round 15-16 – sc in each st. (18)
Round 17 – ‘4sc, dec’ x3 (15)

Stuff and fasten off.
ARMS
Starting with bear colour.
Round 1 – ch.2 and 6sc in first ch. (6)
Round 2 – ‘inc’ x6 (12)
Round 3-4 – sc in each st. (12)
Round 5 – ‘2sc, dec’ x3 (9)
Round 6-10 – sc in each st. (9)
Switch to pj colour.
Round 11-13 – sc in each st. (9)
Stuff, fold over and 4sc through both sides. Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.
LEGS
Start with using bear colour.
Round 1 – ch.2 and 6sc in first ch. (6)
Round 2 – ‘inc’ x6 (12)
Round 3 – ‘1sc, inc’ x6 (18)
Round 4 – ‘2sc, inc’ x6 (24)
Round 5-6 – sc in each st. (24)
Round 7 – 6sc, dec 6 times, 6sc (18)
Round 8 – 3sc, dec 6 times, 3sc (12)
Round 9-12 – sc in each st. (12)
Switch to pj colour.
Round 13- 17 – sc in each st. (12)
Stuff, fold over, sc 6 through both sides, fasten off and leave tail for sewing.
EARS
Using bear colour.
Rou nd 1 – ch.2 and 6sc in first ch. (6)
Round 2 – ‘inc’ x6 (12)
Round 3 – ‘1sc, inc’ x6 (18)
Round 4 – sc in each st. (18)
Round 5 – ‘1sc, dec’ x6 (12)
Fold over, 6 sc through both sides, fasten off and leave tail for sewing.
