Reversible Octopus Free Crochet Pattern!

Reversible Octopus Amigurumi Free Pattern

It’s been a while since I shared a pattern on here and decided I need to get back into it. This reversible octopus was inspired by children I work in, they were discussing how they have these soft toys on their side tables and can set them to show their parents what kind of mood they have woken up in.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • James C. Brett Flutterby Chunky in 2 colours (I used pink and blue)
  • 4.5mm hook
  • stuffing (only a small amount for tentacles)
  • scissors
  • plastic eyes (4)
  • sewing needle

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • ch – Chain
  • sc – Single Crochet
  • st – stitch
  • inc – increase (2 sc in 1 st.)
  • dec – decrease (sc 2 stitches together)

Heads

1. ‘6sc into a MR’ or if you don’t like MR ‘ch.2 and 6sc in first ch.’ (6)
2. ‘inc in each st’ x6 (12)
3. ‘1sc then inc’ x6 (18)
4. ‘2sc then inc’ x6 (24)
5. ‘3sc then inc’ x6 (30)
6. ‘4sc then inc’ x6 (36)
7-13. sc in each st. (36)

Finish off and leave a long tail on one head for sewing.

Tentacles

Make 8 pink and 8 blue.

  1. ‘6sc into a MR’ or if you don’t like MR ‘ch.2 and 6sc in first ch.’ (6)
  2. ‘inc in each st’ x6 (12)

Sew pink and blue together to form 1 leg, you may want to add a little stuffing in the centre.

How To Assemble

Place safety eyes to the two head between rows 8 and 9, 8 stitches between them. Using the black dk yarn add a happy face to one head and sad to another. Sew the two heads together. Sew the legs evenly around the octopus where the two heads join so when reversed the legs match the head.
